That sucks, though not surprising. Gotta give them credit for giving it a shot at least.

Only on the 2.0T, not the 3.3T and apparently it wasn’t really good from what I’ve read and watched

That sucks :(
I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed in middle class enthusiasts.

One wonders how many would have sold with the bigger engine.
Hopefully Hyundai’s still game to offer manuals with the N cars going forward.

As far as I’ve seen Middle C lass enthusiasts buy only 3 cars brand new -
GTIs/WRX/Miata with honorable mentions- Civic Si or Ecoboost mustang

Amazing the sharp contrast between loud people on the internet and reality....
So if you want RWD con manuel, there are about a dozen options left, but all 2 door. BMW dropping the option in the next gen 2 / M3 would not be shocking, despite what they’ve said otherwise .

I’m not sure I’d say a $40 k car is aimed at middle class enthusiasts.
Then again, the median income in my city is $59k, so we’re not exactly a high income area.

I guess I’m just getting old. I used to want manuals in everything.
These days, the only cars that make me say “I gotta have it with a manual!” are the non-turbocharged Porsches, and the Bronco.

Yeah, it sucks they didn't make the manual available for the 3.3T. Since they use a standard torque converter AT, maybe they will have DCT ready by 2022.

The semi-performance sedan sold by a semi-unknown company selling a poorly advertised transmission option paired with the less desirable engine option....
Yeah, it’s not a surprise that it didn’t sell well.

Luxury vehicles don’t have manual transmissions.

Middle class enthusiasts often have other family members or valet parking attendants who have to drive their cars occasionally. These days, getting mad at someone for not buying a manual car for daily use is akin to getting mad at someone for not still using a film camera. The market has long since spoken, there’s a consensus of consumers, it’s a settled matter, the technology has been chosen for extinction outside of some very narrow enthusiast niches.

There’s exactly one for sale on Autotrader. Only one? Maybe the lack of sales was a supply problem.

Sigh. If only they’d made this in a brown diesel wagon, they’d have sold dozens....DOZENS!

Yeah, that’s a bummer but should surprise many. At the end of the day, most manual enthusiasts buy their manuals 2nd hand....anyone can see that’s a problem.
The bigger issue here is that auto manufacturers still put their radar equipment in the grill and refuse to see the absurdity of a fake grill graphic. This looks like dog shit in 90% of the shots I see and it’s across all brands. Can’t someone figure this out?

As someone who cross-shopped this, I was happy to see that it existed, but it was really hard to justify from an enthusiast perspective with other options offering up a more engaging driving experience, more power, more interior space, more driven wheels, and a more established dealer network (in both quantity and quality)
for a similar price or less. A slightly better interior and warranty are nice, but hoping that it’s enough to overlook those other things is a rather tall ask. I wonder if the better play might have been to just wait a bit and then let the “N” team have their way with it (which I’d still love to see).

Exactly. The closest one listed for sale to me was over 500 miles away. There were 30 dealers between there and here, and not a single one on a lot.

I’m disappointed but not surprised. I think it’s too bad there isn’t a market for an affordable RWD manual sedan. I suspect this car is $6,000 too much and too buttoned down. There seems to be plenty of lifeblood for enthusiast cars at $27,500.

The problem is they didn’t make it cheap enough for me. If it has been 25, 000 dollars cheaper I’d have bought one! So close.

I think the new Bronco will go auto-only on the first refresh.
Also, the current GT4, which is arguably the best Porch.... ever..... has crappy gearing. Below is the chart. In order to get to the 8k redline you either need to be in 1st or going 80+ mph in 2nd . It completely defeats the purpose of shifting enjoyment for spirited driving, as you’ll just carry 2nd the entire time . Lukewarm take: It would be more enjoyable with a <300 hp NA 4cyl that revs to the moon, along with an obnoxious exhaust and lower gearing, with redline in 4th at under 100 mph. It would be much more fun banging 2-3-4 shifts like a jagoff instead of just staying in 2nd the entire time. Probably slower, but also more fun.

Ha, that’s *really* jumping the gun there. It s nearest competitor, the W rangler, still offers a manual and has a %10-15 take rate . This isn’t a Hyundai Genesis. So I’ll have to disagree.
As for the GT4, well, calling it the greatest ever is a pretty tall order, especially when it has as huge a glaring fault as poor gearing. And to me, the greatest Porsches ever are all powered by the motorsport-derived Mezger engines.
A high revving, 300hp four cylinder...it would have the same lack of torque as the base 981 Cayman, AND it would sound like a four banger which has been widely panned in the 718...so much that the naysayers claim it ruins the driving experience (it doesn’t). I mean, on paper, yeah, a 300bhp naturally aspirated flat four in a midengined, 2800 lb car would be amazing. But such a car simply cannot exist these days. And frankly, I’m swooned by the 718's turbocharged midrange..
